Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Permit Specialist is responsible acquiring and/or coordinating the acquisition of all permits and pole applications needed to enable construction activities. This is to be accomplished while maintaining full compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local rules and regulations and company-established standards. The Permit Specialist will maintain communication with the authorities having jurisdiction of the Rights-of-Way to manage each permit acquisition process. The Permit Specialist must thoroughly understand all relevant issues, timelines, and priorities so that key internal and external stakeholders are appropriately identified and involved.
Responsibilities
- Submit Permit Applications for road, railroad, public RoW, utility and private easements and specialty permits including, but not limited to: Army Corps of Engineers, EPA, Ohio EPA ODNR, et cetera
- Coordinate with Engineering to understand what permits need to be submitted and to what governing authority
- Coordinate with Drafter to prioritize permits needing drawn up
- Coordinate with Engineering to understand which poles require make-ready applications for attachment
- Submit Pole Attachment applications
- Will actively track process with the different pole providers
- Will keep track of all upcoming, submitted and completed pole applications and permit applications
- Create and submit construction drawing packages.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred OR High School Diploma with equivalent in experience required
- 2+ years' experience in permit process/project management preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all departments and all levels of management
- Strong customer service experience
- Solid basic math skills
- Proficient in standard office software, including MS office and spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
